MATERIALS AT CORE OF OUR BRAND
COMMITTED TO A SUSTAINABLE PRESENT FOR A BETTER FUTURE
Since day one, we have strived for a better planet. Our journey began by making conscious decisions about how we do business: the materials we use, the way we create our products, and the direction we chart for the course of our brand. For us, this is an ongoing work in progress.
ETHICAL MANUFACTURING
To ensure that all our products are manufactured ethically, our factory is certified and inspected by the Amfori BSCI platform. We take great care in making sure that all materials used and methods of transportation have the lowest climate impact possible.
To do this, we use vegan leather alternatives across all products and our packaging is made with FSC-certified paper that is printed with soy ink. We carefully select all our partners, choosing to work with businesses that value ethical and sustainable production as we do.
MAINTAINING A CARBON-NEUTRAL ORGANIZATION
We create for travellers. Our planet is teeming with life and possibilities to be explored. It’s so important to preserve and nurture what we have.
As part of our conscious manufacturing ethos, we understand the impact we have on the environment and have built sustainable practices to avoid, eliminate or repair any impact we have.
This includes partnering with Carbon Footprint Ltd to offset our carbon dioxide output. We also donate a portion of our profits to the Escarpment Environment Conservation Network (Esconet). Our support helps fund a project to restore local forests in the Great Rift Valley in Kenya. These efforts not only help to preserve the natural ecosystem, they also provide much-needed support to the local communities that depend on these forests for their livelihood.
SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS
Gaston Luga has ambitious plans to increase our sustainability efforts company-wide. In 2023, we shifted towards using only eco-friendly materials in all our products.
To this date, we continue to search for and develop functional, durable materials to reduce our impact on the environment.
